The Incredible Heptones

Image title

Formed in the mid sixties by Earl Morgan, Barry Lewellyn and Leroy Sibbles, the Heptones‘ work for such noted produicers as Coxson Dodd, Joe Gibbs and Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry rates among the finest to eminate from Jamaica during the sixties and seventies.

Their finely crafted songs and sweet vocal arrangments resulted in an array of Jamaican chart-toppers and had fate been kinder, their domestic success would have been repeated around the world, but sadly it was not to be, with mainstream commercial success elusive in US and Europe a result of their refusal to follow the popular roots stylings championed by the likes of Bob Marley and Burning Spear

Today the trio are widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential acts Jamaica has ever produced and this week we pay tribute to their astounding contribution to the development of the island’s music industry by posting a new bio and spoitify playlist that can be found in the Artists section of this website.
