On 7th December 1985, an exciting young Jamaican talent breached the UK pop singles charts with a song that would become one of the best selling and most popular reggae tracks of all time: ‘Girlie Girlie’.

While its performer, Sophia George was unable to capilise on the stunning success of the record, which peaked at number 7 early the following year, she remained popular on the reggae scene up until her decision to quit the business and move to the USA in the 1990s.

A newly posted bio relating her short but stunning career of this, one of reggae’s most underrated performers, can now be found in the Artists section on this site, with the page also featuring a specially created spotify playlist comprising  15 of her most popular works, including her international smash.
