New Trojan ‘Legends’ Series

18th March saw the launch of a brand new 2CD value for money, generically designed range focusing on the work of Jamaica’s greatest musical talents.

Despite their exceptionally reasonable price, the high standard by which Trojan has long since been renown is mantained, with all the collections including the usual extensive notes and fascinating imagery.

The  series kicked off with two of its most popular music makers, Desmond Dekker and Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, with both sets comprising 40 of their most popular and influentail tracks .

The Best Of Desmond Dekker brings together the best of the celebrated singer’s ska, rock steady and reggae hits, including the singer’s 6 major UK chart entries: ‘Israelites’, ‘007’, ‘It Mek’, ‘Pickney Gal’, ‘You Can Get It If You Really Want’ and ‘Sing A Little Song’. 

The Best Of Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry features many of the enigmatic producer’s output from the sixties and seventies, with highlights including the Upsetters‘ double-header, ‘Return Of Django’ and ‘Dollar In The Teeth’, plus such classics as ‘Hurt So Good’, ‘Curly Locks’, ‘Mr Cop’ and ‘Sipple Out Deh’ aka ‘War Ina Babylon’.

Between March and June, a total of 8 titles will be released in the series will be released, with further collections in the range planned for next year.
