An Ace DJ
Jamaican musical history is strewn with overlooked musical heroes whose contribution to the island’s recording industry remain largely forgotten. One such victim of this unfortunately trend to focus solely on the major stars is pioneering DJ Valdene Dixon aka Charlie Ace.
During the early 1970’s Ace remained at the forefront of the reggae music scene with a series of superior singles for a variety of producers, including Sonia Pottinger and Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry.
He later became renown in and around Kingston for his spactacularly painted Morris van from which he sold the latest records, but of his later life, like that of his youth, little is known.
What is known of his story is related in the newly written bio that can be found in the Artists section on this site, so to learn more about this talented musical enigma, simply click here.
