Ken Parker

After bursting onto the Jamaican music scene with a series of hits for Coxson Dodd and Bunny Lee at the start of the rock steady era, Ken Parker remained one of Jamaica’s most popular perfoprmers into the 1970s.

During this time he recorded for almost every significant producer of note, with his graceful, distinctive tenor gracing such major hits as ‘True True’, ‘Choking Kind’, ‘I Can’t Hide’, ‘It’s Alright’ and ‘Jimmy Brown’.

But his refusal to embrace the rasta faith along with a move to the US led to a copmplete break from recordings in the mid-1970s and it was not until the close of the decade, after he relocted to the UK and teamed up with Lloyd Charmers, that reggae fans were once again reminded of his outstanding talent.
