Max Romeo
To celebrate his 70th birthday on 22nd November, Max Romeo is this week’s Artist Of The Week.
After emarbarking on a singing career during the rock steady era fronting the Emotions, the singer-songwriter was thrust into the international spotlight in the spring of 1969 when his lewd skinhead favourite, ‘Wet Dream’ breached the UK top 10.
Over the years that immediately followed, his work became increasingly focused on more serious issues, as with his major roots hits including the Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry chart-buster, ‘Sipple Out Deh’ aka ‘War In A Babylon’.
Today, Max is widely regarded as one of the greatest exponents of roots reggae and to read about his career in greater detail, while enjoying 80 of his finest recordings, check out the new bio and spotify playlist, simply click here.
