Copasetic! The Mod Ska Sound
Long before Britains skinhead population embraced the sounds of Jamaican reggae in the late 1960s, their predecessors, the mods, took ska to their hearts.
From the early 60s through to the summer of love, ska and its successor, rock steady, provided a regular portion of the mod musical diet, with Britains young stylists eagerly consuming records released by a small group of independent labels, whose number included Island, Blue Beat and Doctor Bird.
56 of the most popular ska favourites from the original mod scene comprise this 2CD set, which also includes a 16 page booklet featuring a fascinating essay on the scene by Record Collectors Mike Atherton, along with an assortment of original photos and memorabilia from the sixties
