Originally compiled by Jamaican music expert, Dave Hendley in 1979, Rebel Music set the standard by which all sets of vintage reggae would follow.

The aim was simplicity itself: to highlight some of the most influential not to mention listenable – recordings from the previous two decades that had somehow been over-looked with the passing of time.

The LP more than achieved its goal and over the two decades since its release has served as a starting point for many who would go on to become serious Reggae fans.

In 2002, its original compiler, Dave Hendley decided it was time the LP received a complete makeover, ensuring it would finally be the collection he had always intended.

Although the essential flavour of the set has been retained, a handful of the better-known titles have been substituted for tracks more in keeping with the remainder of the material.

As well as sounding a little different, the look has also improved, with the creation of a brand new sleeve and booklet, featuring extensive liner notes by its creator.

Now, more than ever, Rebel Music is a must for anyone wishing to dip their toe into the wonderful waters of vintage Jamaican music.
