Trojan Presents Dub
Recent years have witnessed a significant resurgence of interest in Dub, a Reggae sub-genre developed in the early Seventies by a small number of talented sound engineers whose experimentation in sound took music beyond previously perceived limits.
The style, which primarily involves the manipulation and reshaping of recordings, with the vocal and various instrumental tracks dropped in and out of the mix, continued to develop and decade wore on, but by the Eighties, its popularity began to wane.
Subsequently revived by numerous musicians and producers, today its influence can be heard throughout most forms of popular music.
This collection brings together some of the greatest Dub mixes from its heyday, created by its most influential creators, including such luminaries as King Tubby, Lee Perry, King Jammy, Errol Thompson, Sylvan Morris, Augustus Pablo and Scientist.
