Rupie Edwards – A Success Story

By the time ‘Ire Feelings’ and ‘Leggo Skanga’ breached mainstream charts around the world in the mid-seventies, Rupie Edwards was already a major star in Jamaica.

Having made his recording debut in the early sixties, Rupie served his muscal apprentiship playing clubs in and around Kingston, finally luanching Success Records around 1968.

Numerous local chart hits ensued, with Rupie producing work by some of Jamaica’s finest talent, occassionally taking centre stage himself,  most notably on the aforementioned best-sellers.

4th July marked Rupie’s 71st birthday and to celebrate the occassion, a new bio and spotify playlist, highlighting some of his most popular productions, has just been posted on the site.
