Vinyl Me Please!

Having already established successful partnerships with Cherry Red Records and Music On Vinyl in Europe, we are now proud to announce the start of a new exciting association in the US with the respected record club, Vinyl Me Please.

Kicking off the collaboration are a trio of classic long players that have been unavailable officially for decades, the first being a deluxe reissue of the Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry-produced ‘Silver Bullets’, which first saw issue in 1973.

Showcasing the talents of the Silvertones, a Jamaican vocal trio comprising Keith Coley, Gilmore Grant and Delroy Denton, the LP was largely recorded a single evening at King Tubby’s famed studio in Kingston and has since become regarded one of the most sought-after Perry-produced collections from a pivotal period in his career as a music maker. To mark its release, Vinyl Me Please have also created an enthralling short documentary on the group, featuring original member, Keith Coley.

The second, and no less exciting release from the company is a reissue of the Maytals’seminal album from 1969, ‘Sweet & Dandy’. Featuring a dozen of the group’s hits over the preceding year or so, the set includes a mixture of essential rock steady and boss reggae material, such classics as ‘Monkey Man’, ‘Pressure Drop’, ’54 46 – That’s My Number’, ‘Alidina’and of course the much heralded title track.

The third of the new releases features 12 of the finest rock steady sides from the late 1960s, performed by the ever-popular Desmond Dekker & the Aces. Originally released early in 1968, the ‘Action!’LP effectively demonstrates just why the group were widely considered Jamaica’s premier act throughout this period.

Although ‘007’ will be most familiar to the casual music fan, the remainder of the material is no less worthy, with sides such as ‘Unity’, ‘It Pays’, ‘Sabotage’, ‘Mother Pepper’ and ‘Young Generation’today considered rock steady classics.

With all three albums pressed on the best quality coloured vinyl and housed in faithful reproductions of the original artwork, the collections are a must-have for any self-respecting fans of classic Jamaican music sounds.

The final treat from Vinyl Me Please is an exclusive Trojan 50 long sleeved T-shirt, which along with the albums is exclusively available from the Vinyl Me Please website.
